The Greatest Show on Earth

We were given a set of tickets to opening night of the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus and asked to share our thoughts about the show. No other compensation was received. All thoughts, photos, and opinions are our family’s.

We were blessed to have the opportunity to visit the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus “Built to Amaze” show on Wednesday night. The last time we went, Logan was almost two, so she didn’t really remember much about it.

As she’s my animal lover and the one who is delighted in every single thing we do as a family, I knew she’d enjoy every moment of it.

And I was right.

I loved the excitement on her face as she watched dogs dance and elephants paint. She clasped her hands together as the trapeze artists flung their bodies towards each other through the air. It was fun to watch her.

And Isaac… for a nine month old, he was surprisingly into the show. When the clowns in four wheelers came roaring through the arena, he tried to jump out of my lap to get at them. He clapped his hands, giggled madly, and waved his hands in delight. He was hilarious.

As Molly is enchanted by anything, I knew she’d love it. Her absolute favorite part was watching the girls dance when the “blue” {boys} took on the “pink” {girls}. She also exclaimed “how beautiful!” when the horses came out to twirl and gallop.

During the show, Trevor, the kid who is careful not to show too much enjoyment of anything, was still and mesmerized. He couldn’t get over the trampoline artists, the ribbon dancers, and the men walking {and jumping roping} on the large metal wheels.

I love the circus, and enjoyed spending the evening with my family on an outing all of us could enjoy together. Truly… that’s what the circus is all about for me – watching my kids’ reactions and hearing them laugh and gasp and giggle. It’s a family experience I enjoyed sharing with them. But, the bottom line is that ANY time you give your time to your kids, and delight in their wonder, makes you a better parent.

Do you live in the Cleveland area? There’s still time for you to grab some tickets and head to the show yourself. The show runs through Monday October 28th. Book some seats, load up the family, and enjoy each other – it’s how memories are made.

Have you been to the circus lately? What is your favorite act?
