Kid’s View of Homeschooling

The idea…

Give our kids the camera for the day, and see what they photograph as representative of homeschooling for them.

Have you ever taken time to see what your kids think represent their homeschool life? I highly recommend it. It’s a unique perspective, and can give you insight as to what is important to them.

I let each of the big kids {even Logan} handle my big camera so they could share their perspective. Beneath each collage, they share their thoughts.

A Middle School View of Homeschool

From Trevor (11): I like homeschooling because it allows me to do things that I wouldn’t be able to do in school like playing Legos throughout the day, putting my baby brother down for a nap, raising ants, praying mantises, and planting flowers. I get to play with my turtles and watch Dr. Who with Isaac. Since I have so much time to work on my Legos, I have a huge mansion that I can add to anytime. It has four stories and covers the top of our IKEA bookshelf.

An Elementary View of Homeschool

From Molly (6): Staying home to homeschool means that I get to play with my brother a ton. I have a Lego house going — you can see it in the picture. I can learn some fascinating things about different companies, history, science, and I can read books to my baby brother. If I was in school I’d be too busy to be with my baby brother. I get to play with my dolls and stuffed animals all day — even while I work. I like that my mom is my teacher and I can work with her during the day.

A Preschoolers View of Homeschool

From Logan (4): During my homeschool day I look at ladybugs and make pictures of them. I help clean the messy kitchen and play with my dolls and toys. My turtle Scarlet likes me feed her during the day.
